Los sistemas de gestión de la seguridad y salud en el trabajo han evolucionado en las últimas décadas, principalmente por las regulaciones legales impulsadas por los gobiernos nacionales, fomentando con ello la generación de políticas públicas de empleo. El cumplimiento y desarrollo de los sistemas de gestión permite impulsar y ejecutar diferentes métodos de medición de la gestión y el desempeño de la seguridad y salud en el trabajo; sin embargo, existen limitaciones y fallas relacionadas con estos componentes. Este artículo tuvo como propósito presentar los resultados de una revisión sistemática que indaga por las estrategias de medición del desempeño de los sistemas de gestión por medio de la conceptualización del desempeño y su aplicación, la presentación de métodos que se han documentado en la literatura para dicha medición, así como los de mayor uso y sus principales ventajas, desventajas y la eficacia de estos. Para ello, se revisó la literatura de treinta y ocho artículos publicados entre 2002-2021 en Science Direct, Scielo, Pubmed y Redalyc, lo que permitió identificar sesenta y un aspectos relacionados con el desempeño de la seguridad y salud en el trabajo y siete modelos de medición del desempeño. De acuerdo con la estructura y necesidades de las organizaciones, se establece que estas pueden utilizar métodos específicos para la medición del desempeño de la seguridad y salud en el trabajo; no obstante, algunos métodos o herramientas presentan niveles elevados de complejidad y metodologías de evaluación que no pueden ser aplicadas por las pequeñas y medianas empresas, mientras que otros instrumentos, como la herramienta diagnóstica de la gestión de la seguridad y salud en el trabajo integra diferentes componentes que facilitan un seguimiento riguroso a la gestión de la seguridad y salud en el trabajo con un enfoque de medición superior para cualquier tipo de organización.

Assessing the Laboratory Safety Perceptions, Willingness, and Efforts of First-Year Undergraduates of Chemistry-Related Majors

The survey includes a sample size of 360 undergraduates covering four chemistry-related majors. The instrument reliability and validity are also tested. The results show that most of the students have a more positive laboratory safety perception and efforts. However, the laboratory safety willingness is relatively weak. In addition, there is a significant difference in gender, majors, and source regions. And laboratory safety efforts have significant correlation with safety perceptions and safety willingness. These results provide data for the improvement of laboratory safety education and management.

Job insecurity and unsafe behavior: Exploring curvilinear and moderated relationships.

There are two conflicting opinions regarding job insecurity in the current literature: that it exacerbates unsafe behaviors and that it discourages unsafe behaviors. This demonstrates the theoretical confusion over the exact nature of the relationship between job insecurity and unsafe behaviors. To clarify this confusion, this study proposes a curvilinear relationship between job insecurity and unsafe behavior and situates the study among frontline workers in high-risk industries. Drawing from conservation of resources theory, we develop hypotheses that explain safety-related behaviors among workers with different levels of job insecurity. We collected data from coal miners in China at three different time points in two independent field studies and obtained 209 and 248 valid questionnaires, respectively. We find support for a U-shaped relationship between job insecurity and unsafe behavior. Furthermore, we find that psychological detachment, but not self-control, moderates the curvilinear relationship, such that the curvilinear relationship is weaker among workers with higher psychological detachment. We also discuss some theoretical and practical implications of this research.
