Influence of Laser Beam Profile on Light Scattering by Human Skin During Photometry by Ellipsoidal Reflectors

Abstract: The correct accounting of laser emitter parameters for improvement of diagnostic authenticity of methods of optical biomedical diagnostic is important problem for applied biophotonic tasks. The purpose of the current research is estimation of influence of energy distribution profile in transversal section of laser beam on light scattering by human skin layers at photometry by ellipsoidal reflectors.Biomedical photometer with ellipsoidal reflectors for investigation of biological tissue specimens in transmitted… Show more

“…For the development of structural and fundamental scheme of the measurement unit by Raman spectroscopy (Fig.1) the typology of measuring devices with ellipsoidal reflectors [16] was considered, which was previously tested in numerous experimental researches [15]- [18]. The practical measurements are supported by directing of the laser source radiation of necessary power and diameter.…”

“…The interaction of optical radiation on the atomic and molecular level leads to photo-excitation of molecules in specific components and is represented as the backscattered Raman signal. In most cases the ellipsoidal reflector is installed closely to the surface of the investigated object by the area, which contains its first focus [16], [18]. Due to that fact, and correct selection of reflector parameters and incident radiation diameter, capturing of almost all radiation leaving the biological object due to back scattering is performed.…”

“…The using of ellipsoidal reflectors as a solution for increasing of specific weight of registered light during gathering of scattered light in the range of body angle 2π is successful. It proved its efficiency after interaction with rough surface of technical specimens [21], and optically turbid biological environments [22][23][24][25].…”
