Influence of initial fluctuations on geometry measures in relativistic U+U and Cu+Au collisions

Abstract: In the framework of the Glauber approach we investigate the influence of the initial fluctuations on various measures of the initial-state geometry in 63 Cu + 197 Au and 238 U + 238 U relativistic ion collisions. Comparing variants of the Glauber model (the wounded-nucleon model, the mixed model, and the hot-spot model) we indicate sensitivity of certain observables, in particular for the azimuthal eccentricity parameters as well as for the correlation of directions of the principal axes associated with the Fo… Show more

“…9b is absent. Thus we confirm the conclusion of [70] that in the standard MCG wounded nucleon scheme (without the M B component) the fluctuations erode the knee structure in ǫ 2 . This prediction is in contradiction with the analyses [31,33] where the knee has been found.…”

“…But in [31,33] the fluctuations of the charged multiplicity in N N collisions have been taken into account. However, later in [70] it was demonstrated that the knee structure vanishes when the fluctuations are taken into account, that is in contradiction with the analyses [31,33]. On the other hand, more recent analysis [71] indicates on appearance of a weak knee-like feature even when the multiplicity fluctuations in N N collisions are taken into account.…”

“…Increasing the multiplicity fluctuations as in Ref. [26] will only increase the eccentricity in central collisions suggesting that a different explanation may be required to explain both the turn-over of v 2 /ε 2 and the lack of a knee structure in v 2 vs dN ch /dη. [27][28][29][30].…”

“…No knee structure is observed suggesting the Glauber-x hard model may not be the correct description. Adding more multiplicity fluctuations causes the knee structure to disappear [26] but this will also significantly increase the average ε 2 in central collisions.…”

“…Very recently different methods have been proposed to modify some of the models to incorporate the experimental U + U observations in that particular simulation models [23][24][25]. The constituent quark model is also proposed to describe the experimental observation on v 2 in U + U collisions [26,27].…”
