Influence of Hybrid Fibers on the Fresh and Hardened Properties of Structural Light Weight Self-Compacting Concrete

Abstract: The scope of this research is certainly to provide some experimental data on the effect of hybrid fiber on fresh and hardened properties of structural pumice lightweight aggregates self-compacting concrete (SLWSCC). Addition of hybrid fibers to concrete properties has changed the state of concrete from brittle to ductile. Slump flow test, L-box test, and V-funnel test were leading to find the (SLWSCC) workability of fresh properties. The mechanical properties of hardened (SLWSCC), including compressive, and sp… Show more

“…Nowadays, in order to effectively improve toughness and enhance hardness of cement concrete, the mean that fibers are introduced into it is the convincing method [4] . For this proposition, numerous efforts have been taken to investigate effects of various fibers on plain concrete to extend their civil engineering applications, [5–10] indicating that fibers mixed in concretes can promote their crack resistance and toughness.…”

“…Compressive strength is improved when 0.6% steel fiber and 0.3% polypropylene were added. As the hybrid content was increased, the tensile and flexural strength increased by around 129 and 206%, respectively with keeping the polypropylene ratio constant at 0.3% (Ibrahim & Abbas, 2019). Karimipour, Ghalehnovi, de Brito and Attari (2020) performed a study on polypropylene fiber and its effect on SCC and discovered that the optimal ratio for improving tensile and flexural strength, as well as impact and heat resistance, was 0.3%.…”
