The aim is to increase the mobile nutrient content in the soil by applying optimal nitrogen and potassium fertilizers without the use of phosphorus fertilizers on irrigated typical gray soils moderately supplied with mobile phosphorus. Significant differences are observed in the amount of mobile phosphorus in the soil from the beginning and till the end of the vegetation. It ranged between 24.28-27.15 mg / kg in the driving layer and between 15.20-19.05 mg / kg in the sub-driving layer. The amount of N-NO3 increased during the vegetation to 29.1-34.4 mg / kg in the driving layer, N-NH4 in the driving layer changed to 3.1-4.2 mg / kg. Exchangeable potassium was found to fluctuate between 148.72–177.82 mg / kg in the driving layer at the end of the vegetation period and varied between 179.2–182.75 mg / kg in the sub-driving layer.

Accumulation of heavy metals in soil can lead to the deterioration of soil quality, reduce soil fertility and crop yields, and thus threaten human and animal health. The study aimed to assess the potential ecological risk of heavy metal contamination of agricultural soils in Kazakhstan. The study was carried out in 2021 on the soils of the Zhdanovskoye owner-operated farm in the Sokolovsko-Sarybai district of the Kostanay region. The quantitative content of heavy metals, such as lead (Pb), mercury (Hg), arsenic (As), and cadmium (Cd), was determined, and concentrations of trace elements, such as zinc (Zn), copper (Cu), iron (Fe), and manganese (Mn), were calculated for the considered contaminated lands. The potential ecological risk index (RI) proposed by L. Hakanson was used in the study concerning heavy metal contamination of soil. As a result, the presence of trace elements and heavy metals in the considered areas of the Kostanay region was shown. The RI values for all sites ranged from 137 to 447, corresponding to the level of ecological risk grading from low to high. The average RI for As, Cd, Hg, Pb, Zn, Ni, and Cu amounted to 328, which indicates a high ecological risk. Detected levels of As, Cd, Zn, and Pb in long-term abandoned mining areas were well above national thresholds, indicating the impending need to fully investigate and assess the suitability of the land for further agricultural use. The availability of such data will allow predicting cluster-based development of processing infrastructures in the vicinity of agricultural lands.

The quality of the fiber samples prepared for analysis in the laboratories of the elite seed production of cotton until recently using the LPS-4 equipment, which was put into production in the early 60s of the last century, about 300 test samples picked from the seed nursery in the second year, is three, that is, breaking strength g/force, metric number , relative breaking length, g/force/tex, and determination of fiber length, which is one of the main indicators of fiber quality, has long been carried out in laboratory conditions using methods that require a lot of manual labor (velvet board, special comb and rulers). In the course of the research, samples of the elite seed farm “S-8290” cotton variety, picked from the families of the second year seed nursery, were selected by analyzing the yarn spinning coefficient using the innovative technology of Uster HVI Spectrum. Our proposed method is effective not only in increasing work efficiency but also in ensuring genetic purity of cotton varieties. A 15-20% higher yield is possible in the production of genetically pure cotton plants. According to the results of the variational statistical analysis, the modal value of the yarn spinning coefficient of the family samples collected from the second year 2018 seed nurseries of the cotton variety “S-8290” was in the range of 153-155, while it was equal to 156-158 in the family collection samples collected in 2019. In this case, individual selection seeds from families selected for yield coefficient in the first year were planted for next year’s crop without any laboratory analysis. As it can be seen from the results of the analysis of the second year, the results of the selection work on the recommended yarn spin coefficient were confirmed by the preservation of the morphoeconomic characteristics of this variety.
