Influence of final-state interaction on incoherent pion photoproduction on the deuteron in the region of the Δ-resonance

Abstract: The influence of final state N N -and πN -rescattering in incoherent pion photoproduction on the deuteron has been investigated. For the elementary photoproduction operator an effective Lagrangian model is used which describes well the elementary reaction. The interactions in the final two-body subsystems are taken in separable form. While N N -rescattering shows quite a significant effect, particularly strong for neutral pion production, πN -rescattering is almost negligible. Inclusion of such effects leads t… Show more

“…In principle, the full treatment of all interaction effects requires a full unitary πNN three-body calculation. However, the treatment of the scattering amplitude in this work is completely analogous to previous work [1] . The transition M-matrix elements are calculated in the frame of time-ordered perturbation theory, using the elementary pion photoproduction operator introduced in Ref.…”

“…Examples for strong FSI effects reported in the literature are, for example, those for pion photoproduction off quasi-free nucleons [25,26,27,28]. However, for the same reactions (e.g., γd → (n)pπ 0 ) effects for polarization observables seem to be less important [29].…”
