Influence of Feed on Spiral Inner Grooves Formation with Ploughing

Abstract: Ploughing technology has been applied in manufacturing micro grooves on the outer surface of copper tube. In order to study the formation of spiral grooves on the inner surface of tube, a FEM model operated on DEFORM is established. Two ploughing processes are simulated. At first, an initial groove is manufactured on the workpiece, and then a nearby groove, which will influence the initial groove's geometry, is manufactured with twelve feeds separately. The groove's geometries, including groove width, inclined… Show more

“…Fig. 2(a) illustrates the schematic diagram and image of plough tool (Tang et al, 2010b), which consists of two symmetric forming faces, two symmetric rake faces, a flank face, a cutting edge and two symmetric minor cutting edges. The cutting edge is the intersecting line between two rake faces.…”

“…However, with the development of enhanced heat and mass transfer, Rojas and Andres (2006) found that the technology to manufacture circumferential V-shaped microchannels on the inner surface of tubes was also in need. One of authors 'previous paper (Tang et al, 2010b) had studied the feed influence on circumferential groove deformation on inner surface of copper tube.…”
