Influence of Fe3+ ions on the optical properties and photocatalytic ability of spin coated Fe3+ doped brookite TiO2 thin films

Abstract: The spin coating process has been used to deposit pure and Fe3+ doped brookite titania films onto glass substrates. In essence, such as films annealed at 500oC are found to be orthorhombic crystal structure with brookite phase. XRD measurements revealed that Fe ions are incorporated into cation sites of TiO2. The crystallite size reduces with the doping of Fe3+ ions. The SEM images show highly uniform, crack free films and the particles size is found to be within the range of 150-200 nm. EDX analysis Fe3+ dope… Show more

“…Optical absorption was found to be more for the C3 sample. The bandgaps of the films were evaluated using Tauc plots [19,20] and are shown in figure 4(b). The band energy values were found from the plots of (αhυ) 2 versus (hυ).…”

“…Photocatalytic activity (PCA) of CuO films was estimated by PD of MB and MO dye in aqueous solutions of concentration 5 mg l −1 and 10 mg l −1 (30 ml) under visible light irradiation. The experiments were accomplished according to the description given in our earlier reports [14,19,20]. The time-dependent photodegradation experiments were done by keeping a constant distance of 30 cm between the surface of the dye solution to the light source.…”
