Influence of duration and fuel injection pressure on two stroke gasoline direct injection engine performance

Abstract: The 2-stroke gasoline engines produce high air pollution because there is fuel wasted directly into the exhaust during the scavenging process. Solution to overcome the problem of pollution and improve engine performance is changing the fuel system into a direct injection fuel system. This study aims to determine the performance characteristics (power and torque) of two stroke gasoline direct injection engine in variations in injection duration and fuel pressure entering the combustion chamber with fixed inject… Show more

“…The variation of the characteristics of pressure and especially of pulverization generate alterations in the scope of the jet in the processes of a combustion engine of direct injection, generating a significant alteration in the process of combustion [16]. The injector is the most important component in this analysis test, as it will allow us to evaluate its spent fuel supply efficiency and how it evolves quantitatively at different operating pressures [17] as well as the different options it will present in the fuel consumption simulation [18]. The efficiency and speed of combustion depend on the process of mixing and fuel injection [19], for which the behavior of combustion must also be analyzed according to the characteristics of the mixture and dosing of fuel in its reaction processes, altering the parameters of spraying and pressure as performed by Liu X. et al [20].…”

“…Direct injection can improve engine performance because the fuel is injected directly into the combustion chamber without going through the oil pan [4][5]. Then in another simple research to determine engine performance against the influence of variations in fuel pressure and injection time using pneumatically compressed fuel has been successful research [6][7][8], However, this study has a drawback, namely the resulting fuel pressure is unstable because it uses pneumatic pressure from the compressor so that after the fuel is injected it takes quite a long time to raise the pressure back to the required value. applies to vehicles required for daily mobility.…”

“…Therefore, there needs to be research that uses liquid fuel that is easy to obtain is liquid fuel. Initial studies limited to being able to operate the engine using a pneumatically compressed liquid fuel to determine the effect of variations in fuel pressure and the effect of injection timing have proved to be a successful concept [22], [23]. The fuel injection system in the operation of the spark-ignition engine is controlled by the Electronic Control Unit (ECU).…”
