Influence of duodenogastric reflux in the gastric mucosa histological changes of rats infected with Helicobacter pylori

“…This might have occurred because of the possible triggering of inflammatory conditions. It is believed that after the gastrectomy, the region of the anastomosis starts to show chronic proinflammatory characteristics due to the presence of foreign bodies (sutures) and the continuous contact with the duodenogastric contents [ 91 ]. It is known, therefore, that hepcidin production is stimulated in vivo and in vitro by LPS or turpentine, standard inflammatory stimuli.…”

“…At the end of the study hearts from all groups were isolated through a midline thoracotomy under pentobarbital (150mg/kg i.p.) anesthesia [13] . Hearts were rapidly excised and immediately placed in ice cold Kreb-Henseleit heparinized solution.…”

“…Furthermore, clinical and experimental studies have been carried out to investigate whether surgical techniques that promote duodenogastric reflux may be involved in the development of gastric cancer 11,12 . The intensity of glandular atrophy and intestinal metaplasia is directly related to the reflux of duodenal secretions to the gastric mucosa 13,14 .…”
