Abstract:Open cylindrical shells reinforced with quasiregular sets of longitudinal ribs and hinged at all edges are considered. The effect of the discrete arrangement and number of ribs on the critical stresses that cause instability under longitudinal compression and on the minimum natural frequencies of vibrations is examined. Numerical results are analyzed Keywords: open cylindrical shell, quasiregular arrangement of ribs, critical stress, minimum natural frequencies, minimum resonance frequencies, parametric resona… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
