The purpose of this article is to investigate certain aspects of the current state of the Russian timber industry. The Boston Consulting Group matrix is created to illustrate the current state of the industry in a variety of sectors. The industry's growth rates in various federal districts of the country are examined. Models of changes in volume indicators of the Krasnoyarsk Territory's timber industry output, prices, and individual qualitative characteristics for round timber are obtained. This region is fascinating due to the variety of agricultural products and climatic conditions (logging despite the High North conditions). The study recognizes the significance of expanding the use of the entire tree biomass and stimulating integration associations in the forest industry.

Classification of Principal Wood Species in China Based on the Physiomechanical Properties

Many tree species are planted in China with variable properties and usage. Toward exploring the structure-properties relationships of wood and classifying the species more reasonably, the physiomechanical properties of the domestic wood species in China were analyzed statistically. According to the correlation analysis, the mechanical properties were closely related to the wood density. Except impact toughness and cleavage strength, the correlation coefficients between mechanical properties and densities were more than 0.8. However, shrinkage properties showed fewer correlations with densities, and the coefficient was no more than 0.7. Primary component analysis was proved to be feasible to explore the information of the physiomechanical properties. Two principal components (PC1 and PC2) could account for most of the information. PC1 and PC2 were designated as density-dominated and shrinkage-associated factors, respectively. The domestic wood species in China could be classified into 4 clusters based on their physiomechanical properties. According to the cluster results, reasonable grading was proposed for air-dried density, volume shrinkage, modulus of rupture, compression strength parallel to grain and hardness in cross section. The statistical results brought insights into analyzing the physiomechanical properties of domestic Chinese wood species, which was helpful for developing strategies of tree breeding and technologies of wood processing.

This research article examines the role of the transportation network in sustainable forest management and forest use within the forest reserve. The authors discovered a link between the efficiency of multipurpose forest management and the efficiency of the forest transportation network. The authors did draw attention to the fact that there needs to be a comprehensive methodology for assessing the efficiency of network planning for forest transportation. They also found that the efficiency of forest road network planning for reserve and protective forests needs to be evaluated. In this article, the authors define the fundamental parameters of forest transportation networks based on forest type and propose a method for obtaining a reliable assessment of the forest road network's efficiency. The estimation is based on the multipurpose nature of forest use and how forest land resource potential grows based on forest category. The authors suggest a comprehensive approach based on a mathematical model which includes elements of financial mathematics, combinatorics, and mathematical statistics to assess the efficiency of forest transportation network planning. By integrating diverse methodological tools into a unified forest transportation network planning tool, it becomes possible to precisely calculate the time required to recoup the costs associated with establishing and expanding a forest road network. The model takes into account the geographical arrangement of the network's individual elements and their dependence on the specific forest category in which it is designed. They also apply a systematic approach and economic and mathematical modelling, including linear and dynamic programming.
