Influence of different amino functional groups on structural, optical, and morphological properties of PMMA and their nanocomposites

Abstract: Functional polymers have a wide range of applications, that is, biomedical applications, self‐healing polymers, OLED devices, optical applications, etc. due to improved plasticity, ductility, heat resistance, etc. The present study contributed to reinforcing the concept of functionalization to design facile and cost‐effective material with desired properties or tweak the existing properties of polymers. The advancement of this research study provided insight into the effect of different amino functional groups… Show more

“…PMMA is extensively employed in a variety of fields, including optical sensors, optical windows, biomaterials, and molecular separations. 15,16 It is common practice to blend PVC with PMMA (which is used as a plasticizer) to enhance its mechanical, structural, and thermal stability. 17 This combination of materials has been used to create a wide range of products, from medical devices to window frames, as they offer an exceptional combination of strength, durability, and transparency.…”

“…The ester group provides a wide range of possible approaches including nucleophilic substitution such as hydrolysis and aminolysis. 445,[455][456][457][458][459][460] The functional -CO 2 CH 3 groups on the surface are typically less reactive in direct aminolysis than in bulk. Accordingly, more active reagents with high nucleophilicity, such as lithium amides, are applied for the modification (Fig.…”
