Influence of CuO Additive on Physical Properties of BaTiO3 Ceramics

Abstract: Various ceramics were prepared by the conventional solid-state reaction technique according to the compositional formula of (1-x) BaTiO3+xCuO withx= 0.00 ~ 0.05. The influence of CuO additive on microstructure, crystalline structure and dielectric and piezoelectric properties were investigated. It has been found that CuO acts like a sintering aid in the CuO-modified BaTiO3ceramics to promote the ceramic densification and suppress the abnormal grain growth during sintering process, and decreases the orthorhombi… Show more

“…And researches showed that CuO has a strong effect on the dielectric properties of BaTiO 3 when it was doped together with BaO. On the other hand, pure CuO also showed possibility to modify the dielectric propertied of BaTiO 3 in recent research [15] . Besides, so many previous studies showed that one oxide may show novel activity in different doping methods [16][17][18] .…”

“…On the other hand, when CuO was doped solely into BaTiO 3 , Cu 2+ ions have two states: incorporating into the lattice and presenting in boundary phase. Researches on the accepter doped BaTiO 3 have shown that the dopant element can penetrate into the grain boundaries [15,17,20] . Similarly, we consider that CuO doped BaTiO 3 exhibit this mechanism.…”
