Influence of canola oil on the fatty acid profile in goats’ milk

Abstract: S. 2003. Influence of canola oil on the fatty acid profile in goats' milk. Can. J. Anim. Sci. 83: 323-325. Four Alpine does were used in a 4 × 4 Latin square design to determine the effects of feeding canola oil at four levels: 0, 2, 4 and 6% on milk fatty acid profile. The sum of C 12:0 + C 14:0 + C 16:0 (hypercholesterolemic fatty acids) decreased linearly and C 18:0 + C 18:1 : C 16:0 (indicator of cholesterolemic tendency of fat source) increased linearly (P < 0.01) with increased canola oil intake.
