Influence of Cameraria ohridella Deschka & Dimic on the activity of antioxidant enzymes in horse chestnut leaves (Aesculus hippocastanum L.)

Abstract

Features of reaction of horse chestnut (Aesculus hippocastanum L.) trees on act of leafminer Cameraria ohridella Deschka & Dimić are investigated in green plantings of Dnipro city. The intensity of A. hippocastanum L. leaves damage by chestnut miner was determined at eight measuring points located in the park zones and Botanical garden of DNU. It has been established distinctions in guaiacol-peroxidase and catalase activity in leaves with different level of lesion. It is shown that the activity of guaiacol peroxidase is significantly increased by medium and high levels of leaf phytophage damage compared to low by 87 and 76%, respectively. The opposite pattern was found by catalase, the activity of which was significantly reduced with increasing levels of damage to the assimilating organs of horse chestnut by the leafminer Cameraria ohridella Deschka & Dimić.
