Carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) technology plays a crucial role in the pursuit of carbon neutrality. To reduce the cost of carbon neutrality, it is necessary to optimally design the supply chain of CCUS, which leads to mega scale problems for vast countries such as China. In this paper, a novel three-module framework including source-sink matching, meshing, and pipeline transportation network allocating, which has the advantage of plant-level decision and trunk transportation while keeping the size of the model solvable, is proposed. In addition, a database including major CO 2 emission sources in thermal power, cement, and iron-steel sectors as well as major CO 2 storage sinks in China is set up. By comparison of scenarios with and without offshore storage, offshore storage is found to be superior in those southern coastal provinces. With a transportation distance not exceeding 250 km, around 4.2 Gt of CO 2 can be captured and stored. Simultaneously, establishing sensible CCUS deployment objectives is crucial. As the planned deployment capacity rises from 601.8 to 1203.5 Mt/year, the unit net supply chain cost will elevate from 28.5 $/tonCO 2 to 36.0 $/ton, marking a 26% increase. Moreover, the evolution of CCUS deployment toward achieving carbon neutrality between 2025 and 2050 is analyzed. Notably, early stage deployment is suitable for provinces in northern China, while other provinces are anticipated to engage in subsequent phases. The comparative study indicates that CCUS is more economically viable than introducing green power and green hydrogen in the thermal power, iron-steel, and cement sectors for emission reduction.

Piezoionic materials consisting of a polymer matrix and mobile ions can produce an electrical output upon an applied pressure inducing an ion concentration gradient. Distinct from charges generated by the piezoelectric or triboelectric effects, the use of generated mobile ions to carry a signal closely resembles many ionic biological processes. Due to this similarity to biology, the piezoionic effect has great potential to enable seamless integration with biological systems, which accelerates the advancement of medical devices and personalized medicine. In this review, a comprehensive description of the piezoionic mechanism, methods, and applications are presented, with the aim to facilitate a dialogue among relevant scientific communities. First, the piezoionic effect is briefly introduced, then the development of mechanistic understanding over time is surveyed. Next, different types of piezoionic materials are reviewed and methods to enhance the piezoionic output via materials properties, electrode interfaces, and device architectures are detailed. Finally, applications, challenges, and outlooks are provided. With its novel properties, piezoionics is expected to play a key role in the overcoming of grand challenges in the areas of sensing, biointerfaces, and energy harvesting.

Most flexible ionic tactile sensors can hardly be used in deep sea due to their poor antiswelling and anticompression properties under high hydrostatic pressure. To achieve pressure and position sensing under high hydrostatic pressure, a self‐powered underwater tactile sensor made of a porous thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) film is presented in this paper. The sensor works by generating an electric current due to the different moving velocities of ions in the porous film under pressing. Experimental results show that the magnitude of the generated current signal increases with the applied pressure, the contacting area, and ion concentration of the solution. The direction and magnitude of the current signal depend on the pressing position of the film. The signal magnitude decreased with the closer to the center of the film. The maximum pressure sensitivity and positioning resolution are 0.62 kPa−1 and 1.31 mm respectively. Response time (0.19 s), 0.67 s recovery time, and 50–600 kPa pressure detection range are achieved. In addition, the signal magnitude is decreased only by 15.53% when the sensor is placed underwater at a simulated depth of 100 m. Proof of concept demonstration of underwater autonomously grasping objects of different weights with this sensor is successfully achieved.
