Influence of Area and Volume Effect on Dielectric Behaviour of the Mineral Oil-Based Nanofluids

Abstract: Transformer oil is conventionally used as an insulating liquid for the purpose of insulation and cooling in power transformers. The rise in the power demand has put stress on the existing insulation system used for power transmission. Nanotechnology provides an advanced approach to upgrade the conventional insulation system by producing nano-oil with enhanced dielectric characteristics. The aim of the study is to present the influence of area volume effect on the dielectric performance of mineral oil and its n… Show more

“…POME processing using NaOH and KOH catalysts produced an alternative transformer insulation oil that meets several characteristics of insulation oil. Furthermore, to improve the insulation ability of the catalysed oil, a nanomaterial was added, namely, silica treated by saline, which can dissolve in oil [16,17,18,19]. The results of processing POME using a KOH catalyst with added silica treated by saline are better than processing using NaOH, which is also added silica treated by saline.…”

“…This research seems to demonstrate the impact of area volumes on the dielectric properties of nanofluids derived from mineral oil. 19 In this research, a Two-Step Method (T-SM) can be described for preparing nanofluids by dispersion SiO 2 nanoparticle in base transformer oil at two distinct percentages. Researchers use coaxial electrode topologies in various tests to learn how area and volume affect nanofluids.…”
