Influence of Approaching Excavation on Adjacent Segments for Twin Tunnels

Abstract: This paper aims at influence analysis of approaching excavation on adjacent segments for twin tunnels with variable clear spacing located in Beijing, China. A series of numerical simulations have been conducted to investigate the influence of approaching excavation on ground displacements and mechanical responses of segments. What's more, on-site monitoring was conducted at the position of the minimum spacing between the twin tunnels. It is found that the deformation of the measured segment presents a pronounc… Show more

“…A concrete retaining wall [1][2][3][4][5][6][7] is a preconstructed concrete structure in the roadway or tunnel, which can withstand the maximum grouting pressure, protect the stability of the face, and prevent slurry leakage from running into the roadway or tunnel. In the process of urban subway construction [8,9], weak and water-rich strata are often encountered, and the stability of the stratum is poor. The concrete retaining wall needs to withstand the maximum grouting pressure and the groundwater and formation pressures in front of the face.…”

“…Many scholars have conducted studies on the mechanical responses of shields underpassing pile foundations. These include (among others) theoretical [1][2][3], experimental [4][5][6][7], and numerical simulation studies [8][9][10]. Zhao [11] analyzed the lateral and axial responses of pile foundations owing to tunnel excavation using a two-stage method.…”

“…none of these researches consider the excavation action in a supported slope. Furthermore, there are many studies related to twin tunnels interaction such as ( [11], [12], [13]) and many studies related to twin tunnel interaction with another structure such as ( [14], 152-2 [15], [16]). But none of these previous research focused on the interaction between twin tunnels in a slope with other structures.…”
