Influence of an AC-coaxial adapter on measurements of the AMN impedance

Abstract: Abstract:The measurements of the characteristics of an artificial mains network (AMN) are always affected by an AC-coaxial adapter connecting an impedance measuring equipment to the AMN. The present paper theoretically investigates the influences of the adapter on the measured AMN S-parameters in terms of the mode S-parameters. As a result, it proposes a correction method for eliminating the adapter influences in order to reveal the true AMN characteristics. The experimental measurements using two adapters of … Show more

“…1(b) shows an example schema of AMN's characteristics measurement. As shown in the figure, the AC/coaxial adapter [3] is used for connecting the AC outlet of the AMN to a vector network analyzer. Thus, the measured characteristics of the AMN include the characteristics of the adapter.…”

“…The characteristics of the adapter had been evaluated up to 30 MHz which is the upper limit frequency of the conducted disturbance measurement using the conventional AMN [3,4,5]. However, since the conducted disturbance measurement of over 30 MHz is required by the above background, new type AMN for using up to 1 GHz has been developed [6].…”
