Influence of Ag NPs on Silicon Nanocolumns NH3Gas Sensors

Abstract: Al hybrid structures, have been fabricated and tested. A bare silicon nanocolumns layer was synthesized by a laser-assisted electrochemical etching process in HF solutions. The surface morphology of bare Si nanocolumns was modified by incorporating Ag NPs into Si nanocolumns by simple and fast immersions methods in an aqueous solution of AgNO 3 to synthesize a hybrid structure. Characteristic features of bare Si nanocolumns and hybrid structure were investigated using scanning electron microscopy, EDS analysis… Show more

“…There are many toxic gases that exist in the environment such as CO, SO 2 , CO 2 , NO, NH 3 , and SO 3 , which are produced by motorized transportations, power plants, industries, biological waste etc. [1][2][3][4][5] CO gas is extremely toxic, which is emitted from the burning of fossil fuel, natural gas, and organic matter. It is responsible for several respiratory diseases such as asthma, inammatory lung disease, and hypoxia.…”

“…Figure-6, show spectra consisting of five particular Raman peaks of high intestines which signify the R6G and located at 1650, 1574, 1517, 1364 and 1279 cm −1 . These particular peaks are intensely coupled to C-C and C-H bond stretching vibrations [22,23]. The activities of both as-prepared and air-aged Au-NPs and Ag-NPs/glass SERS sensors for the R6G target molecules, at a low concentration of about 10 −10 M, are shown in Figure-6.…”

“…Raman signals' enhancement in SERS relays upon the electromagnetic field intensification for both incidents and scattered radiation in metal plasmon surfaces proximity as an electromagnetic enhancement, and/or on the non-resonant or resonant energy transfer between the adsorbed molecules and the metal nanoparticle as chemical enhancement [10]. Classically, since silver metal was demonstrated for inducing strong enhancement effects, these metal-based nanomaterial's have been used in SERS applications [11]; however, it was reported that silver nanostructures demonstrate a strong tendency to grow and/or reshape upon prolonged irradiation [12], in addition to its easy oxidation at room temperature [13]. For these reasons, the attention was focused on hybrid nanomaterial in recent years, where the features of two elements or more have been combined in a single platform [12].…”
