Infectious diseases in primates—introduction and bibliography

Abstract

The Fourth International Congress of Primatology brings together a multitude of scientists interested i n the use of nonhuman primates in research. Once again it is incumbent upon us to reiterate that all investigators must recognize the potential danger inherent in the continued use of such animals, especially under the conditions currently maintained in many laboratories. The recognition of zoonoses, as well as anthroponoses, is now well documented in the literature (Appleby et al
