“…In this study, 78 pediatric patients, 0–17 years old, diagnosed with acute hematogenous BJIs caused by S. aureus at the National Children’s Hospital in Ha Noi, Vietnam between September 2022 and September 2023 were recruited. The diagnosis of BJI was based on clinical, radiologic and microbiologic criteria according to Pääkkönen and Peltola 1 and Abuamara et al 9 These included signs and symptoms of either osteomyelitis or arthritis or both, laboratory test results [white cell count and C-reactive protein (CRP) concentration] and imaging abnormalities (isotopic scintigraphy, magnetic resonance imaging and computed tomography). All patients had a positive culture from at least one of the following samples: blood, purulent joint fluid, bone biopsy specimen or abscess fluid for S. aureus .…”
