Infection of Chorthippus loratus (Orthoptera: Acrididae) with Liebermannia sp. (Microsporidia) in South‐Western Russia

Abstract: Chorthippus loratus collected in Krasnodar Territory in 2017 was infected at 15% rate with a microsporidium possessing ovocylindrical binucleate spores, 2.6 9 1.2 lm in size. SSU RNA gene typing (Genbank accession # MH396491) showed its allocation to the genus Liebermannia. Degenerate primers based upon largest subunit RNA polymerase II (RPB1) sequences of closest relatives allowed amplifying the respective gene fragment of Liebermannia sp. (# MH396492). The present finding indicates worldwide distribution of … Show more

“…Крыловой и А. Нуржановым микроспоридия Nosema maroccanus из марокканской саранчи, впоследствии по данным молекулярно-филогенетического анализа была отнесена к роду Tubulinosema (Issi et al, 2008). Уже в XXI веке у саранчовых и кузнечиков было обнаружено несколько видов микроспоридий рода Liebermannia, один из них -на Юго-Западе России (Ignatieva et al, 2019).…”

“…In Orthoptera 18 species of microsporidia were described [31][32][33] from various phylogenetic lines. Microsporidia possess the ability to suppress immunity of insects hosts [34][35][36] and to increase susceptibility of the infected insects to chemical [37] and biological plant protection products [38].…”

“…In recent studies of microsporidia of Orthoptera, five new species have been described, namely Liebermannia covasacrae [3] from Covasacris pallidinota (Acridoidea, Acrididae), Encephalitozoon romalae [4] from Romalea microptera (Acridoidea, Romaleidae), Endoreticulatus poecilimonae [5] from Poecilimon thoracicus (Tettigonoidea, Tettigoniidae), Liebermannia sp. [6] from Chorthippus loratus, Microsporidium sp. [7] from Gryllus bimaculatus.…”
