Infantile Spasms in Children of Low Birth weight

Abstract: SUMMARY In a retrospective study of 242 children with infantile spasms 31 were found to have a birthweight below the 10th percentile for the length of gestation and of these 26 (84 per cent) were of the secondary variety. Of these 26 infants, 16 had developed a serious convulsive disorder one to five days after birth. Only 3 similar cases were encountered in the other 211 children.
