Infant formula ingredients: Updates for clinicians

Minna L. Rodrigo,
Heidi A. Tymann,
Heidi A. Lochen
et al.

Abstract: Take Away Points All infant formulas meet specific nutritional standards, but there are now numerous versions of formula with newer ingredients that more closely approximate breast milk. Select infant formulas include ingredients such as human milk oligosaccharides, lactoferrin, or milk fat globule membranes, which may have additional clinical benefits. These ingredients are considered safe in infants but there is not dosing standardization across formula companies, and they may increase cost.
