Infant Feeding and Clinical Problems

Abstract: The ultimate goal of perinatal mental health care is the next generation's wellbeing. During the perinatal period, the infant establishes autonomous internal regulation of feeding and emotions, and rhythms of sleep and elimination. Perinatal mental health care focuses on problems in these basic functions as well as on the mother-infant dyad. In this chapter, we describe feeding problems and disorders.
