Piggery waste to sustainable fuels via indirect supercritical water gasification and membrane reforming at 600 °C: a techno-economic assessment

“…To date, this most commonly has seen the use of (i) covered anaerobic ponds (CAPs) to capture released methane from the effluent as it decomposes and (ii) effluent in combined heat and power (CHP) systems to provide electricity and heat for on-site use. 4 In many cases, however, the electricity and heat provided by these systems exceed the energy demand of the piggery. 5 As most piggeries are off-grid, this means that excess energy produced must be curtailed.…”
