Inert Anode/Cathode Program: Fiscal Year 1986 annual report. [For Hall-Heroult cells]

Abstract

Major accomplishments and results of the program for the fiscal year are summarized below:• The electrical conductivity of the Alcoa-developed cermet anode material was increased by a factor of seven by modification of the composition. Initial polarization tests on this new material showed the least amount of wear of all the anode materials tested in FY86. This material will undergo further testing in FY87. The composition of the material will be discussed after the patent disclosure has been filed.
