Abstract: The recent outbreak of monkeypox virus (MPXV) was unprecedented in its size and distribution. Those living with uncontrolled HIV and low CD4 T cell counts might develop a fulminant clinical mpox course with increased mortality, secondary infections, and necrotizing lesions.
