The emergence of Industry 5.0 took place in the mid-2010s, presenting a novel vision for the future of an industry that places emphasis on human involvement in the production process. Following the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been a substantial surge in the popularity of this concept, gaining traction not only in the business realm but also within academic circles. This increased attention can be attributed to a heightened focus on crucial aspects such as sustainability and resilience. The objective of this study is to present an updated overview of key bibliometric trends in Industry 5.0 research. The findings indicate a remarkable expansion of research activities in the field of Industry 5.0, as evidenced by a substantial increase in the number of publications and citations. Concurrently, the growth of Industry 5.0 research has led to the emergence of diverse perspectives and the exploration of related research themes such as artificial intelligence, big data, and human factors. In summary, this study enhances our understanding of the Industry 5.0 concept by providing an updated overview of the current state of research in this area and suggesting potential avenues for future investigations.

Industry 5.0 has created innovative new prospects leading to the production of more environmentally friendly projects, services, and products. However, the available investigation of Industry 5.0 for sustainability is still in its early stages, with few systematic and scant findings. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to undertake a systematic review of industry 5.0 for sustainability in order to identify trends, categorize research themes, draw attention to research limitations, and suggest potential directions for future research. Following a systematic review approach, 48 articles on industry 5.0 for sustainability published between 2019 and 2022 were selected and reviewed. Results showed that the research trend on the contributions of Industry 5.0 to sustainability has been remarkably growing worldwide. The internet of things, artificial intelligence, and collaborative robots were the most commonly used Industry 5.0 technologies for sustainability purposes. Subsequently, this study discussed the current studies under four main research themes, namely, robot advancement, higher education sustainability, human‐centric, and ecosystem advancement. It has been found that human centric is the most popular theme. The identification of themes and sub sub‐themes in this study can help researchers identify gaps and inspire further exploration based on the existing knowledge. This study can support the decision‐making process regarding the effective implementation of Industry 5.0 solutions to enhance sustainability practices in organizations. This study discusses the current state of Industry 5.0 technologies for sustainability and provides insights into future research directions. This can motivate researchers, policymakers, and industry professionals to explore and develop innovative Industry 5.0 solutions.

Industry 5.0, the latest advancement in production processes, emphasizes a collaborative and human-centered approach to manufacturing. This paradigm shift incorporates 3D printing, Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), the Internet of Things (IoT), and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to potentially enhance environmental sustainability, process technology, and energy conservation. Although Industry 5.0 offers significant opportunities, its implementation in Indonesia faces several challenges, such as infrastructure development, human resource competency enhancement, and the establishment of supportive laws and regulations. Collaboration among government, industry, and academic institutions drives innovation and research. This review article examines the current state of Industry 5.0, the underlying technology, and the obstacles and opportunities in adopting this novel manufacturing approach. It highlights environmental impact, process technology, and energy conservation as critical areas for consideration. Indonesia can substantially improve these areas by leveraging the potential of Industry 5.0 and overcoming these challenges. The paper offers insights into Indonesia's integration of Industry 5.0 and explores the benefits this new paradigm can bring to the nation.
