“…In 1975, the Center for Science in the Public Interest and Citizens’ Committee on Infant Nutrition requested that baby food companies remove sugar, salt, and modified starches from their products. The report noted that modified food starches comprised up to as much as one‐fourth of the total solids in some products (21). By 1986, infant foods had been considerably improved by decreasing the amounts of modified starches, as documented in a Gerber‐published survey of 637 US infants from ages 2 to 12 months.…”
