Industrial-QoS-Oriented Remote Wireless Communication Protocol for the Internet of Construction Vehicles

Abstract: Construction vehicles (CVs) are typically a class of remote mobile objects. Safe, efficient, and low-cost operations of CVs have raised an urgent need for the intelligent remote monitoring system (IRMS) based on the Internet of Things (IoT). The existing technology of remote wireless communication could not meet the requirements of the IoT-based IRMS for CVs on the real-time, efficiency, and reliability of data transmission, transmission data types, as well as the balance between the monitoring scale and costs… Show more

“…There are some studies, such as [ 10 ], trying to realize reliable data delivery. However, as we have demonstrated in Figure 1 , the noise and disturbance in an on-road context is much higher than typical WSN deployment sites, such as in indoor [ 14 ], open field [ 15 ], and outdoor [ 16 , 17 ] contexts. In this paper, we present our research on how to tackle the unprecedented scale of disruption in an on-road WSN communication, and we also present our implementation of Target-Prediction-based on a Link quality Estimation system which neither needed any overheads in the physical layer nor used RTS/CTS.…”

“…These costs occur when the internet of things is built on networks that are consuming energy through connectivity, transmission and functioning, that makes the expenditures related to operations of the IoT devices significant enough to be evaluated and controlled. Previous research has been done, for example, in regards to construction vehicles [12]. Companies using construction vehicles need technology improvement based on IoT in order to monitor maintenance issues across geographical distributions.…”

“…ith the rapid development of communication and computation technologies, a growing number of vehicles are connected to the Internet of Things (IoT) [1]. As a huge interactive network, Internet of Vehicles (IoV) has become an important issue of mobile Internet [2]. Information such as vehicles' location, speed and driven route are collected to central processing system using particular sensors and devices [3].…”
