The article describes an approach to the construction of complex distributed cyber-physical systems with a high level of architectural dynamics built on fog and edge computing platforms. The key idea of the developed approach is to use digital twins as dynamic models of the observed and managed systems, which are kept up-to-date by processing the event flow received in the form of logs. A reference architecture of a dynamic runtime digital twin is proposed. The possible approaches to synthesis of models that form the basis of digital twins are discussed. Examples of using the proposed approach to solve practical problems are given. The described approach may be of interest to specialists engaged in research and development of different kinds of information systems realized on 1 the IoT platforms such as smart cities, smart transport, medical information systems, etc.

Towards Dynamic Model-Based Agile Architecting of Cyber-Physical Systems

A model-based approach to large-scale distributed system architecting is suggested, which is based on the use of dynamic digital twins. This approach can be considered as an integration of known paradigms, such as digital twins, evolutionary architecture and agile architecture. It can also be considered as one of the possible realizations of the digital thread paradigm. As part of this approach, a three-level digital thread reference architecture is suggested, which includes the following levels: (i) digital thread support level; (ii) agile architecture support level; (iii) digital shadow support level. This approach has been used in the development of a number of real systems, and has shown its effectiveness in supporting system agility at the exploitation and modernization stages. The proposed approach is focused on building digital twin-based systems. This article may be interesting for specialists engaged in research and development in the domain of IoT- and IIoT-based information systems, primarily architects.

The current stage of technology development is characterized by an increase in the complexity of the created anthropogenic systems, a constant expansion of the scope of information technologies, an increase in the intelligence level of the created systems, and the appearance of new paradigms for building information-oriented systems such as cyber-physical systems, the Internet of things, and cloud and fog systems. Modern information-oriented systems very often have dynamic structure, implement complex adaptive behavior, and can be considered as systems with agile architecture. The article discusses one of the possible approaches for building cyberphysical systems with agile architecture on fog platforms. The idea of the proposed approach is to accumulate knowledge about the current state of the observed cyberphysical systems in the form of knowledge graphs. As a model, it is proposed to use multilevel relatively finite state operating automaton at the upper level and knowledge graphs at the lower level. A distinctive feature of the developed approach is that models that describe the current state of the observed system can be built automatically.
