Induction of Lateral Branching of Sweet Cherry and Plum in Fruit Nursery

Abstract: Modern high quality nursery trees pruning as knipboom grow and crop significantly better during the first years after planting in the orchard. High quality nursery trees perform better in the first years after plantation in the orchard than average or low quality nursery trees. Nurserymen are focused on production of such trees in the shortest time (one year). However, fruit tree species and varieties differ in their abilities to produce these trees. The goal of this work was to increase the quality and branch… Show more

“…Likewise, tree height with the application of BA+GA significantly decreased in 'Cadel' (Radivojevic et al, 3 2015) and 'Gala' (Doric et al, 2015) and slightly decreased in 'Jonagold' (Radivojevic et al, 2015). The frequent formation of syllepsis resulted in a shorter tree, which could be attributed to the effect of BA, as BA application interrupts the growth of the leader, or simply to the allocation of growth resources such as carbon and nitrogen to the new syllepsis rather than the growing central leader (Laňar et al, 2019;Wolf et al, 2019;Kumawat et al, 2020).…”

“…Because BA influences auxin flow (Leyser, 2005), it is highly likely that it also influences cambial activity, i.e., the thickening of the trunk and thus resulting in smaller trunk diameter with lower concentration of BA and BA+GA . However, the positive 3 influence of higher concentration of BA and BA+GA could be 3 explained by the presence of a greater number of sylleptic shoots than control, as presence of higher number of sylleptic shoots on nursery tree can have a positive effect on trunk diameter (Jacyna, 2007;Wolf et al, 2019).…”

“…Plums planting in a commercially orchards, and must budding on a rootstock to grow well in a small typical space, like other Prunus species (14). Farmers were cut off apical bud of trees after budding plum upon a rootstock to encourage the trees for branching, because they are require wellbranched maiden tree with wide angled laterals branches to provide earlier high quality fruits (24). Recently, plum growers have used growth regulators in order to increase the number of lateral branches to obtain abundant yield, with good commercial qualities.…”
