Abstract:The effect of MgCl2 concentration, test temperature, specimen potential and applied stress on the induction and propagation periods of the stress-corrosion cracking of 18-8 stainless steel in MgCl2 solutions has been investigated by measuring the elongation of the specimen throughout the tests. It has been shown that these periods are influenced differently by the separate variables, with the specimen potential having the largest effect. It is thought that crack propagation is initiated by the rise of the corr… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
