Indoor Positioning System With Cellular Network Assistance Based on Received Signal Strength Indication of Beacon

Abstract: With the development of the mobile Internet, the demand for indoor location based services(ILBS) is increasing. Applications and devices in indoor environments can determine their position based on Received Signal Strength Indication(RSSI) of bluetooth Beacons. However, because of multipath effects, shadow fading and the blockage of obstacles, RSSI values are unstable for positioning. The propagation model are various in different environments, which have caused great difficulty in high-precision indoor positi… Show more

“…In Wi-Fi based indoor localization system, received signal strength indicator (RSSI) is used in the localization of fingerprint data. However, the RSSI based poisoning is not accurate and reliable because of multipath component of the wireless signal, blockage by obstacles, and shadow fading [158]. In [159], author proposed a non-RSSI based multi-dimensional clustering for access point optimization to find the indoor positioning.…”

“…According to (7), the error equation can be obtained by the total differential form of (7) and the EP law [19]: ] is the direction cosine of the target relative to obs beacon. The position error noise of obs beacon (the error of GP beacons converted from UP beacons is derived from the subsequent discussion) and the ranging error noise can be acquired in advance.…”

“…Sound source localization techniques based on microphone arrays and their applications are currently receiving increasing attention in academia [3]. Currently, there are many theories and methods for microphone-array-based sound source localization, which can be broadly classified into the Received Signal Strength (RSS) localization method [4,5], Angle of Arrival (AOA) localization method [6,7], Time of Arrival (TOA) localization method [8,9], Time Difference of Arrival (TDOA) localization methods [10][11][12], Frequency Difference of Arrival (FDOA) [13,14] localization method, Multiple Signal Classification (MUSIC) positioning method [15,16], and many other methods based on beamforming or other advanced methods [2,17,18], etc.…”
