The aim of this study was to determine the habits of families towards fish consumption in urban areas of Mary city in Turkmenistan. The main data of this study has been compiled by asking 20 questions to 267 consumers who lived in Mary city. Predetermined questions were applied to randomly selected people as question-answer. Sample size of this study was determined with unclustered probability sampling method. According to the research findings, yearly fish consumption of the examined consumers was determined as 3.28 kg per capita. Mostly preferred fish are catfish, herring and grey mullet respectively. Consumers preferred bazaars the most and markets the least as a place to purchase fish. 97% consumers consume fresh fish while 64.79% consume fish by frying. While 56.55% of consumers think that fish prices are high, 34.46% of consumers think it is normal. At the end of the study, it is obtained some results relevant to participant's average monthly income, educational background, their professional status, marital status, types of supplying and consuming fish, cooking methods and attitude towards fish consumption.

Indonesia and the Philippines are the two biggest archipelagic countries in the world spanning more than 25,000 islands. This made both states rich in marine natural resources and were considered to be the global centers of marine biodiversity. With the said availability of aquatic resources, both countries have also experienced the exploitation of these assets by people aiming to make profit from overfishing and illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing practices. As such, the authors saw the merit of exploring the recently-implemented policies of both countries aiming to protect and preserve their marine natural resources. These were vital in assessing its effects on the human consumption of fisheries and triangulating the effectivity and efficiency of the said aquatic-related public policies. This study presented the concrete actions that both Indonesia and the Philippines took to battle illegal poaching by Chinese fishermen in the latter’s waters, prevent the marine exploitation of fishing operations from the former, and the establishment of community-based marine preservations that gave permanent employment to its population and improved their way of living.

Asian green mussel is a marine animal that is used as food by most Indonesians. The mussels are widely cultivated in tropical countries such as Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and other Asian countries. The mussel, known as perna viridis, is marine biota that is a filter feeder in the waters. Therefore, the quality of its meat is greatly influenced by the quality of the sea in its habitat. It is a food that is quite popular with the community but can endanger public health due to the accumulation of heavy metals. This study used a literature review by collecting data related to heavy metal concentrations in green mussel tissue in Indonesia. The results showed that the mussels from several sampling locations still exceeded the maximum acceptable limits of lead (Pb), mercury (Hg), and cadmium (Cd) concentration according to the standards of the food and drug administration of the Republic of Indonesia. Consumption of green mussels can increase health risks if you frequently consume them from cultivating or catching locations that have been contaminated with heavy metals.
