Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is the top 10 disease with highest patients in Indonesia and the highest prevalence is in East Java Province. Dinoyo Public Health Center was one of the most recipients of patients in 2018 with total of 10,355 Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus patients aged 40-69 years old. The modifiable risk factors for Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus include physical activity, body mass index (BMI), and abdominal circumference. This study aims to determine the correlation between physical activity, BMI, and abdominal circumference with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus at Dinoyo Public Health Center Malang. This study is a quantitative study with cross sectional approach as correlational study method. The sample of this study were patients aged more than 40 years old at Dinoyo Public Health Center. Based on the analysis of bivariate test using the chi square test, there was the correlation between physical activity, body mass index (BMI), and abdominal circumference with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (DM) at Public Health Center Dinoyo Malang. According to multiariate test using the BMI regression test, it was found that BMI had eight times greater effect on triggering Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus at Dinoyo Public Health Center Malang.

The sleep pattern of diabetics are disturbed because they often wake up and have difficulty going back to sleep. This study aimed to determine the effect of Benson’s relaxation technique on the sleep quality of clients with diabetes mellitus at the Polowijen Health Center. This research design used Pre-Experimental One Group pre-post design. The sample in this study was 30 people with diabetes mellitus with poor sleep quality. The research instrument used was a sleep quality questionnaire. The study was conducted from 1st July to 7th August 2019. Data were analysed with the T-Dependent test (Paired Sample T Test). The results of this study indicated that there is an effect of the Benson relaxation technique on the sleep quality of diabetes mellitus patients, with the average total score after the Benson relaxation technique being 18.83 and the results of the T-Dependent statistical test (Paired Sample T Test) was a Sig.2 Tailed 0.000. Benson’s relaxation technique accelerates a comfortable and relaxed condition. As a result, the secretion of catecholamine and cortisol hormones inhibits the production of endorphins, enkephalins, and serotonin increases, the stimulation of the Reticular Activating System (RAS) decreases, then the secretion of the hormone melatonin increases when the brain is relaxed, and the Bulbar Synchronizing Regional (BSR) is active, causing a person to fall asleep. A safe and comfortable human life could be achieved by controlling the work environment so that the release of energy that is harmful to human health can be avoided. Noise often arises from an uncontrolled work environment and currently, more than 600 million people are exposed worldwide. Increased cortisol levels were one indicator stress-inducing of the occurrence of health effects because the worker's body is exposed to noise. If left longer it could increase sugar levels and cause diabetes mellitus. This study aims to analyze the effect of noise exposure on increasing blood cortisol levels and blood sugar levels in garment workers. This type of research was an analytic survey with a cross-sectional design. The respondents were chosen by using a stratified random sampling method and the total amount of respondents with a mean difference formula. As many as 75 people became respondents after being counted using the mean difference formula and chosen by the stratified random sampling method. The data were analyzed using ANOVA and Pearson Correlation. The results showed that respondents who exposed to noise above the threshold limit value had higher average blood cortisol levels compared to other respondents (p<0,000). Furthermore, an increase in blood cortisol levels was also positively correlated with an increase in blood sugar levels (r=0,898; p=0,000). Therefore, workers must be disciplined in using personal protective equipment.
