“…Forgetfulness was the main reason for non-adherence to treatment (24%), a result that matches with what authors described in the Incumat study. 23 Kardas and collaborators published a meta-analysis where they reviewed 2848 articles and observed that 38% of patients were nonadherent, higher percentages were reached when adherence was assessed by other methods rather than Morisky-Green. 24 Furthermore, if adherence to antibiotic treatment is assessed by an objective monitoring technique that records each opening of the medication package (MEMS), only 30% of patients had excellent adherence, which could be due to a trend of overestimate adherence when a self-reported method is used.…”
