Previous studies have shown that those with knee OA exhibit worse standing balance, typically quantified using posturography or center of pressure (COP) movement obtained from a force platform, than those of a similar age without OA (5)(6)(7)(8). Importantly, the relevance of these findings has been confirmed in the clinical setting by Swinkels et al (9), who recently reported that 24% of patients on a knee replacement waiting list experienced a fall prior to surgery.…”
