Increasing Community Participation Through Tourism Social Responsibility: Tourism Special Economic Zone in Mandalika

Abstract

This paper aims to look at the social responsibility of the tourism industry in the Mandalika Special Economic Zone, West Nusa Tenggara in involving the community in the development process. This research is qualitative research using the saturation technique in data search. The number of respondents in this study was 16 people who were interviewed in depth. The data obtained were then analyzed using 4 stages including reduction, display, triangulation, and decision-making. The findings show that the tourism sector in the Mandalika Special Economic Zone only involves a small portion of the community in development. Most of the people in KEK Mandalika are only involved in the informal sector such as renting houses, selling souvenirs, renting vehicles, selling food, etc. This is the first paper that evaluates the social responsibility of tourism activities in the Mandalika Special Economic Zone, Indonesia, particularly in involving the community in the development process.
