“…Studies endeavored to find any polymorphism in TREM-1 gene expression associated with atherosclerosis remains elusive on their conclusion, however, it has been found that sTREM-1 is increased in AMI is associated with SNP polymorphism 61,62 ). Elevated levels of serum sTREM-1 is associated with incidence of in stent-restenosis (ISR) and also TREM-1 expression is seen more in the VSCMs of the neointimal and medial region of the stenotic artery, TREM-1 inhibition could play a modulating role in this phenomenon 63,64 . In endocarditis, several TREM-1 SNP 54 polymorphisms have been reported to be associated with endocarditis susceptibility in Caucasians, and it does not have any effect on endocarditis outcome.…”

“…One of dilemma to overcome in treatment of arteriosclerotic caused diseases is the restenosis of in-stent implant. In fact, the in-stent restenosis 64 limit significantly the hope offered by peripheral angioplasty after artery occlusion (Table1). Several drugs have been suggested to reduce the chance of the demoralizing event without any significant success.…”

“…Among the increasing evidence, inflammation was further confirmed to play a vital role in the development and progression of ISR 3 . Recently, some studies revealed the potential function of inflammatory markers, including TREM‐1, C1q/TNF‐related protein (CTRP), TLR3, and TLR4 in predicting ISR 4–6 . More than that, the ratio of platelet‐to‐lymphocyte, which was an inflammation‐related indicator, could provide the basis for assessing the inflammatory status and predicting the possibility of ISR 7 …”

“…It was defined in infectious diseases and considered as a response to infections. There are soluble and membrane-bounded TREM-1 forms [5] and although TREM-1 is a main potential biomarker of infectious diseases [6], the negative results of high TREM-1 levels were studied in inflammatory but non-infectious diseases, such as irritable bowel syndrome [7], inflammatory bowel diseases [8], obstructive sleep apnea [9], and coronary artery disease [10].…”
