Incorrect disposal of medications: integrative literature review

Abstract

Drug disposal is of concern to public health, as toxic waste can be considered depending on the composition and degree of toxicity. Therefore, they cannot have the same destination as waste considered common. Humans are responsible for disposal, be it expired drugs, leftovers, disuse or excess. Certainly, the impact on the environment is worrying and unprecedented, in addition advertising aimed at the sale of medicine stimulates the consumer and with this waste is generated. In the results of the present study, it can be seen that the number of people who dispose incorrectly prevails compared to the number of housings studied, thus the objective of the present study is to emphasize knowledge in general relation to the disposal of medications.
