Abstract: Metformin, apart from its glucose-lowering properties, has also been found to demonstrate anti-cancer properties. Anti-cancer efficacy of metformin depends on its uptake in cancer cells, which is mediated by plasma membrane monoamine transporters (PMAT) and organic cation transporters (OCTs).
