Incorporation of Low-dimensional Materials into the Two-dimensional Interlamellar Nanospace of a Pillared Interlayered Solid

Abstract: We studied the synthesis of nanostructured oxide/hydroxide within the two-dimensional nanospace of a pillared interlayered solid (alumina-pillared clay). A nickel(II) hydroxide unit layer was introduced into the pore of the pillared clay by adding a base to a nickel(II) nitrate solution containing the pillared clay calcined over 300 °C. The formation of the lowdimensional nickel(II) hydroxide was evaluated by X-ray diffraction analysis, elemental analysis, surface area measurements, temperature-programmed redu… Show more

“…Using this standard method, the resulting solution will contain 90-95 % of the polycation Al 13 . In fact, many studies using the nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR), provided the proof of its existence and allowed the aluminum speciation [40][41][42][43][44][45][46] .…”

“…Activated carbons were prepared from modified apple wastes-Al 13 by pyrolysis under nitrogen flow and activation under water vapour. Pyrolysis of the grafted material was carried out Passing to the pyrolysis step, about 10 g of dried apple wastes-Al 13 (40,60 and 80 wt. %) were placed in the middle of the reactor .we used different pyrolysis temperatures of 400,500,600, 700 and 800 °C.…”

“…[1][2][3][4][5] The alkali metal and alkaline earth ions in the interlayer space of the smectites can be replaced by ion exchange method with a variety of desired cations. The ability of smectite clay to adsorb both inorganic and organic materials gives novel functional organic/inorganic hybrid materials.…”

“…Laponite is a synthetic polycrystalline similar in structure and composition to natural hectorite of the smectite group. 6 The empirical composition of laponite is Na 0.7 [(Si 8 Mg 5.5 Li 0.3 )O 20 (OH) 4 ]. Rare-earth-ion-doped inorganic compounds have been utilized in luminescent devices such as fluorescent lamps, cathode ray tubes, plasma display panels (PDPs), light emitting diodes, scintillators and amplifiers for fiber-optic communication.…”
