Marine ranching plays an integral role in providing fishery resources. Given the critical importance of protecting the marine ecological system, the ecological security evaluation of marine ranching is significant. However, the existing research rarely involves marine ranching ecological security (MRES) evaluation and does not provide a complete evaluation index system. The purpose of the present study was to estimate MRES through several steps and evaluate it scientifically by fully considering the relationship between the factors. First, the evaluation index system was structured using the Driver-Pressure-State-Impact-Response (DPSIR) framework by following certain principles. Second, the study applied the Decision Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory (DEMATEL) method and fuzzy comprehensive evaluation (FCE) method to assess MRES. Third, a case study of a marine ranching in the Shandong Province was discussed to demonstrate the applicability of the proposed method. This also illustrated the steps of the evaluation. In this case study, the result of the MRES evaluation was graded as excellent. The results demonstrate that using these methods to evaluate MRES can account for the complex relationships between the factors and the cognitive ability of the experts and thus integrate the experts’ information comprehensively, which adds to the credibility of the evaluation results.

Located in an ecologically fragile area in China’s eastern part of the Loess Plateau, Shuozhou City has faced environmental challenges imposed by frequent urban expansion and mining activities in recent years. As ecological security patterns (ESP) identification and optimization are significant to regional biodiversity and ecosystem services, this study combined morphological spatial pattern analysis (MSPA) and circuit theory to construct and optimize regional ESP. Results show the number and area of ecological sources in the study area decreased from 21 to 20 between 2010 and 2017. The total area of ecological sources fell from 1923.35 km2 to 1869.37 km2, with their proportion in the study area dropped from 18.14% to 17.64%. From 2010 to 2017, the number of obstacles increases from 63 to 80, mainly consisting of farmland, unused land, transportation land, and construction land. The area of obstacles reached 10.17 km2 in 2017. A framework of “one protection area, two regulation areas, and three restoration areas” is proposed to optimize the ESP of the study zone. This study explored a combination of ESP analysis tools and focused on improving regional ecosystem service and biodiversity. It will support local urban planning and provide a reference for similar studies in resource-based cities.

Regulation simulation of land‐use ecological security, based on a CA model and GIS: A case‐study in Xingguo County, China

Ecological land is constantly modified by agriculture and construction, which leads to soil erosion, land degradation, soil pollution flood disasters, and many other land ecological security problems, threatening sustainable development. Few studies have been made to construct a land‐use ecological security pattern (LUESP) aimed at achieving urban expansion, food security, and ecological security from the perspective of land‐use needs. This study seeks to provide decision makers with the choice of multi‐scenario LUESPs by simulating the LUESP under different scenarios, offering a reasonable land‐use ecological security regulation strategy. In this paper, the ecological security evaluation method was used to identify key ecological space of a study area and the scenario analysis method was used to set up three security scenarios: ideal security (IS) scenario, satisfactory security (SS) scenario, and bottom‐line security (BS) scenario, thereby constructing the constrained cellular automata (CA) model of the LUESP and simulating the LUESPs under three security scenarios for Xingguo County, China. The results showed that the LUESP construction land index and arable land index did not exceed the total amount of the General Plan of Land Use in Xingguo County under the three security scenarios. Moreover, both key ecological space loss and landscape fragmentation degree were greatly reduced, the ecological patches tend to cluster, and the anti‐jamming ability of the landscape pattern was enhanced. The ranking of LUESPs under three security scenarios was as follows: BS scenario > SS scenario > IS scenario. These results implied that the LUESPs met the demand for land in Xingguo County for ecological security, food security, and economic development, while space occupied is different under three security scenarios. The decision makers can adopt appropriate land‐use ecological security regulation strategies according to the future development plans of the region.
