“…However, we found that in other studies conducted in the Turkish population this ratio was consistent with ours and was lower than that in the literature (25)(26)(27). Genc et al (25) reported the incidental gallbladder cancer rate in 5164 cholecystectomies as 0.09%, Dursun et al (26) in 696 cases as 0.3%, while Akyurek et al (27) detected the rate as 0,72% in 548 cases.…”

“…Importantly, our analysis suggests that a 1% incidence of iGBC is an overestimation in the current era, which is consistent with other recent retrospective studies. 10,25,26 Another important finding of this study is that OC patients had a significantly higher incidence of iGBC (1.13%) than patients who underwent an LC (0.07%; relative risk = 17.3). Furthermore, patients who converted from LC to OC had a significantly higher rate of iGBC (0.60%) than patients who had their procedure performed completely laparoscopically (0.05%).…”

“…Sujata et al (9) reported 6 (0.9%) incidental GC in 622 laparoscopic cholecystectomy specimen. Genc et al (8) reported 5 (0.09%) incidental gallbladder carcinoma in 5164 patients and they supposed that the low incidence in Turkish population is related to the avoidance of elective cholecystectomy in advanced stage carcinomas. In our study, the rate of incidental gallbladder cancer was 0.11%.…”
