“…Pseudoaneurysms are a potential complication following Bentall surgery that can occur early or late after the procedure. To improve early detection of pseudoaneurysms, routine CT scans have been proposed as a screening tool for patients who underwent Bentall surgery [ 6 ]. In one case-series, the prevalence of pseudoaneurysms was as high as 54% in a group of patients with infected aortic graft, with or without aortic valve prosthesis involvement, following Bentall surgery.…”

“…4 In particular, both coronary anastomoses are performed after isolating the coronary ostia surrounded by an amount of aortic tissue as large as possible to allow the buttons to be reattached to the aortic prosthesis using a suture in a double-layer fashion to achieve enough strength rendering reinforcement with fabric or pericardium doughnuts not necessary. Reference to this technique is present in the paper by Comentale et al, 1 but curiously attributed to authors not related to us (see their reference #6), thus, unfortunately, overlooking our important contribution. 3 Aldo D. “…For this reason, we were very interested in reading the article by Comentale et al published in the Journal of Cardiac Surgery. 1 The authors report a patient who developed after 18 months a giant pseudoaneurysm of the right coronary button which was repaired successfully.…”
