Incidencia Clínico Epidemiológico Del Distemper Canino en El Cantón Guaranda, Provincia Bolívar, Ecuador

Abstract

Key words: canton Guaranda -epidemiological clinical -Distemper canino -incidence -population of canidsThe objective was to determine the epidemiological clinical incidence of canine distemper (CDV) in the canton Guaranda, Bolivar province, Ecuador. The research was carried out at the Veterinary hospital "Canine and Felines" of Guaranda, during 2013 to 2015. The study comprised a total sample of 1970 canines, where it was taken into account for the clinical diagnosis of the disease, the application of the functional invariants of the clinical method and rapid test. The data obtained were processed taking into account the Box-Jenkins or ARIMA and we estimated the values of the autoregressive parameters, non-seasonal moving average, seasonal autoregressive and seasonal moving average. The canine distemper condition represented one of the main reasons for consultation during the period 2013-2015. The disease had an endemic and seasonal behavior, being present in all the months of the years evaluated, with marked seasonality in the period from May to October. The risk factors associated with canine distemper were: non-vaccination, age, sex of canines, summer, residence in periurban areas, and non-confinement of animals. It is concluded that the incidence of canine distemper is a health problem in the population of canids of the canton Guaranda.
